In order to open the Monitoring flag in steadyPRINT, the printing environment in the tree view and a print server or a printer have to be selected. steadyPRINT distinguishes between Default SNMP Queries and User-Defined SNMP Queries:
- steadyPRINT automatically provides Default SNMP Queries for all printers accessible via SNMP.
- With User-defined SNMP Queries, you can individually generate specific information on your printing environment.

Basics SNMP |
|
For the usage of the SNMP protocol, a general knowledge is indispensable. You will find a short definition of terms in chapter Terms.
If you are not able to assign the terms SNMP, OID, or MIB Browser, we recommend an initial training before you focus on this chapter. |
Important |
Synchronize IP Addresses |
|
For a printer query via SNMP, a valid IP address or DNS printer name is necessary. For this purpose, the steadyPRINT Center stores the necessary information to the database when adding a printer. For already existing printers, the synchronization can be done later or for update purposes via the respective print server node in the context menu with Synchronize printer information (see chapter Synchronization of Printer Information). |
Important |
Monitoring Profiles |
|
Collecting information requires a Monitoring Profile for the Dashboard as well as the SNMP queries themselves. If this has not been created and linked, a storage of the information will not take place. |
