steadyPRINT serves SAP as OMS (Output Management System) in order to output print jobs via a Windows print server and its provided printers. In doing so, access method E is used via which a response is returned to the SAP application server (several . response targets can be specified) for the job and device status of the Windows printer queue. If printing should not be possible due to a current error reported by the Windows printer queue, steadyPRINT reports this to SAP accordingly.
Reliability for print servers and printers
steadyPRINT is able to provide reliable print servers on Windows side. In doing so, printing can be continued even if one of the two print servers (primary/secondary) fails. Moreover, steadyPRINT vFlow offers the possibility of printer reliability. Workflows can be used to define threshold values and error conditions by means of rules, which result in an alternative printer being used for the printout if required.
Load Balancing for print servers
Thanks to intelligent load distribution, the integrated Load Balancing ensures stability and optimal performance even with high print volumes – regardless of whether printing is done from headquarters or a branch office.
Repeat print and print job history
Furthermore, steadyPRINT offers the option of repeat printing. When printing from SAP, the print job is assigned to a Windows domain user. Via this user, the print job history can be opened in order to view already printed or even incorrect print jobs and to print them again directly via Windows. In addition, there is also the possibility to save the selected print job as a PDF document.
Support of different SAP systems with one steadyPRINT instance
The steadyPRINT OMS supports several independently installed SAP systems with one steadyPRINT instance. In this process, the same steadyPRINT Server service can be integrated and used several times together with the Windows print server. The steadyPRINT OMS is able to dedicatedly communicate with different SAP systems which reduces the Windows and steadyPRINT side complexity and saves ressources in deployment, configuration and operation.
Workflows
The steadyPRINT OMS supports a specific document control by means of workflows (vFlow) in order to process printed incoming dociments (s.vFlow Actions). This includes actions for logic, adaption, output, printing and the use of pre-defined templates.
